For years, Google has been a global market leader in search engines. However, as the search engine giant continues to release an array of products and tools designed to boost productivity, it’s also earning a reputation for its innovative new tools. With so many resources becoming available (and a majority being offered free of charge), which ones will you leverage to achieve your business goals?

Here are six Google products and tools you should consider trying in 2024.

1. Meridian

Meridian: Free

In March 2024, Google announced the release of Meridian, an open-source marketing mix model (MMM) designed to help users navigate critical measurement challenges. A marketing mix model calculates the overall effectiveness of marketing campaigns and helps you unlock optimum budget allocation.

Some of the obstacles this tool can help marketers and advertisers overcome are:

  • To effectively analyze campaign results and make more informed business decisions
  • To prioritize user privacy while transitioning into our cookieless future
  • To optimize target ad frequency
  • To drive better business outcomes

While several new policies are being implemented to protect user privacy, once fully enacted, these same policies can make it more challenging to properly identify users as they navigate through each stage of the marketing funnel. Powerful tools from Google, such as Meridian, can be especially helpful for marketers and advertisers who are searching for ways to review the full scope of their efforts.

It is currently available on a limited basis. However, Google plans to extend its access to the public in the near future.

If you are interested in applying for access to Meridian before it’s released, see more information below.

2. Gemini

Price: Up to $20/month

First, there was BARD, and now there’s Gemini — Google’s rendition of ChatGPT and its largest and most capable AI model. In need of inspiration? Gemini is a state-of-the-art open-source model that can assist with:

  • Summarizing complex information and content
  • Generating beautiful AI images
  • Answering challenging questions and providing studying assistance
  • Translating code, debugging code, and identifying and resolving coding errors

On February 15, 2024, Google upgraded the Gemini platform from Gemini 1.0 to Gemini 1.5 (Gemini 1.5 Pro is also available). This new and upgraded tool boasts enhanced performance and is considered to be one of the most advanced language learning models (LLMs) available on the market. While most Gemini models are currently available for use, Google has made the Gemini 1.5 Pro version only accessible to developers for now.

Is Gemini Better Than ChatGPT?

Now that Google has entered the chat and developed an AI tool like Gemini that can directly compete with ChatGPT, many would like to know which one is superior, if any. Here’s a brief comparison of the two products and what they offer, so you can make an informed decision about which one will be best for you.

4. Google Business Profiles

Price: Free

These days, it’s all about your location (in search engines). 76% of users conduct a local search before visiting a business within 24 hours, and if you don’t have a Google Business Profile (formerly known as a GMB or Google My Business listing), you can forget about your business being able to benefit from this level of visibility. While every business owner’s goal is for their website to show up in the Local Pack, or appear in Google Maps, it would not be possible without a Google Business Profile. Google Business Profile is a free tool that enables users to control and promote their business online, particularly on Google Search and Google Maps.

Google Business Profiles can help your business:

  • Monitor and manage your online presence
  • Increase trust and credibility with new prospects
  • Boost brand visibility
  • Gain top of Google search engine results pages (SERPs) visibility

The more Google tools and products you use, the greater your opportunity of being discovered in Google Search. Even better, Google Business Profile is free of charge, so you’ll have nothing to lose by giving it a try.

Have the back-to-back releases of all of these AI tools been overwhelming for you? If so, there’s a new tool that can help you experiment with the future of AI by getting a first look at some of Google’s upcoming AI-powered product releases before they become available to everyone.

Search Labs (also known as Labs) was launched in late 2022 and it revamped itself as Google Labs, functioning as an exclusive hub where users can test out all of the latest advancements in Google’s AI products and experiences.

6. Google Ads Editor

Price: Free

Whether you are a highly skilled and experienced advertiser or in the beginner’s stages, Google Ads Editor makes modifying multiple campaigns a simple and seamless experience. Unlike most Google tools, Google Ads Editor must be downloaded onto your computer for use. While this may seem like an inconvenience, it’s a lifesaver for users who may need to make campaign updates when they are not connected to the internet.

In March of 2024, this free tool upgraded to version 2.6, and now it’s packed with even more features that make it far too enticing not to try, such as:

  • Reforming Google Display Ads into Performance Max campaigns
  • Making use of demographic and audience signals directly on the ad or asset group
  • Customizing and adjusting third-party measurement settings
  • And more
